If You’ve Never Lived in Poverty, Stop Telling Poor People What They Should Do

I’m posting this for all those who have never needed to submit themselves to public assistance, including food banks.

It is a thoroughly dehumanizing situation.

This is written an hour or so after having a horrific visit to a food bank. I missed the religion, came for the food. What I got was to be treated suspiciously and condescendingly by the church folk.

Those with means who enjoy watching those without squirm, and submit, and bow, and say thank you, well, I’d say “go to hell,” but honey, you’re already there.

The poor writer has spoken.
