Third Act

A woman gets knocked around by her boyfriend and it’s caught on tape. His high profile translates into higher visibility, which mutates into a cultural conversation.

It’s a conversation I’ve been thinking about participating in for a while now. But I thought I needed to do more a contextual study of the issues. I thought I needed to do more research. I thought I needed to read up, get educated; not only about situational man-on-woman violence, but about the cultural context of women’s issues in general.

And today, in thinking about this topic, I almost talked myself into thinking I was too under-informed to provide a relevant point of view concerning the current state of women’s issues.

And then I thought again.

I’m a woman. I’ve lived a richly textured life. I’ve been on this crazy planet for 52 years. I’ve watched, I’ve listened, I’ve absorbed these odd gender events…
